Time To Get Talking; Don’t Ignore Erection Problems

As Shocking Number Of Men With ED Are Embarrassed, Anxious And Emotional, Expert Warns Of The Life-Threatening Issues That Can Arise From Ignoring ED

Why Opening Up Is So Important This Men’s Health Week Plus The Health Implications Of Ignoring ED

Although it affects millions of men around the world,[1] Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is STILL a topic that many males are too uncomfortable to talk about. New research[2] by Eroxon –  www.eroxon.co.uk – the first clinically proven over-the-counter (OTC) topical ED therapy which is clinically proven to help users get an erection within 10 minutes – has found that rather than opening up, men are facing the emotional strain of ED with 67% of sufferers saying they feel ashamed or embarrassed because of their condition. In the same poll, 47% admitted that their condition has reduced them to tears and 57% of men said that anxiety is the most common challenge they face regarding their ED.

Speaking of the data, GP and TV media medic, Dr Hilary Jones says: “There’s no better time than this year’s Men’s Health Week to encourage men to open up about ED. Around half of men over the age of 40 will experience ED, while one study reported that more than a quarter of new ED cases are now also diagnosed in men under 40,[3] proving just how common it is.”

Despite how many men are falling victim to ED, 69% of men with the condition find it difficult to discuss their intimacy issues with a health professional and more than half struggle to talk to their partner about their problem, or they simply avoid the subject altogether.

“But, opening up about ED is often the first step towards seeking help and resolving the problem,” says Dr Hilary Jones.

Of those that have spoken to their partner, 64% confirmed that it was helpful, which goes to show just how beneficial talking can be. Plus, if ED is left unresolved, it could not only disrupt a relationship, but it could lead to a whole host of other health issues.

“Heart problems and ED often go hand in hand, because vascular damage and an impaired blood supply to the penis is one of the most common causes of erection issues,” warns Dr Hilary Jones.

Studies show that seven out of 10 men will experience ED before any signs of angina.[4] As well as this, some men also experience chest pain after sex — which is known as angina d’amour, or coital angina[5].

Anxiety can also become a deeper problem as research published last year in the International Journal of Impotence found that 37% of men with ED had an anxiety disorder.[6]

Although talking about the problem is still important, Eroxon is a rapid, over-the-counter ED treatment helping men get an erection in just 10 minutes.

Dr Janine David, a specialist in ED and men’s health and a member of the Eroxon ED Information Panel (EEDIP) – www.eroxon.co.uk adds: “Eroxon is an ED gel that is applied directly to the head of the penis. It’s good news for ED sufferers who can now access an over-the-counter treatment for their ED, helping them to get an erection in just 10 minutes. The rapid action of Eroxon restores spontaneity to lovemaking and because it is applied directly to the head of the penis, using the gel becomes a natural part of foreplay helping men to feel less of the emotional strain and burden that ED is causing them.”

As Dr Janine David goes on to explain, with an inevitable rise in the number of ED sufferers, thanks to an ageing population and the rise in obesity, diabetes and other health problems associated with ED, it’s important we get the nation talking- both men and women – to shun the shame that comes with this common problem.
