Make Your Own Greggs and KFC Collab Sausage Roll – Gravy and All!
Share
The internet’s gone wild — and for good reason. Greggs and KFC have just unveiled the ultimate guilty pleasure: a flaky sausage roll, drenched in rich KFC-style gravy.
But if you can’t get your hands on the real deal (or just love a kitchen experiment), why not recreate it at home? It’s easier than you think — and dare we say, even better fresh from your own oven.
What You’ll Need:
For the sausage rolls:
- 1 pack ready-rolled puff pastry
- 400g sausage meat (or high-quality sausages with skins removed)
- 1 tsp sage
- 1 tsp onion granules
- ½ tsp white pepper
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
For the gravy:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 400ml chicken stock
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion granules
- Optional: 1 tsp gravy browning or KFC-style seasoning (if you want to replicate that exact savoury hit)

Step 1: Make the Sausage Rolls
- Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan).
- In a bowl, mix sausage meat with sage, onion granules and white pepper.
- Roll out your puff pastry and slice it into two long strips.
- Place sausage meat in a log down the centre of each strip.
- Fold pastry over and seal the edges with a fork.
- Brush with egg wash, slice into portions, and bake for 20–25 mins until golden.
Step 2: Whip Up the Gravy
- In a saucepan, melt the butter.
- Stir in flour to make a roux, cooking for 2–3 mins.
- Slowly whisk in the stock, ensuring no lumps.
- Add garlic powder, onion granules, and seasoning to taste.
- Simmer until thickened.
Pro tip: For that ultra-savoury edge, add a spoon of Bisto or a homemade seasoning mix with paprika, black pepper, celery salt and MSG.

Step 3: Serve Like a Pro
Plate your sausage rolls, smother in hot gravy, and serve with chips or a side of slaw for the full comfort-food effect.
Bonus Twist:
Air fry the sausage rolls for extra crispiness, or add a sprinkle of crispy onions or stuffing on top of the gravy for added crunch.
Why We Love It:
It’s comfort food at its finest — British bakery meets Southern-style indulgence. Perfect for hangover days, casual get-togethers or just because you deserve a little food joy.
