Fruit Machines have become a common feature in our locals, but what trends are emerging and are Brits still using them?
The team at OLBG.com survey Brits to find out what fruit machines trends are happening in the UK across different regions.
National Trends in Fruit Machine Usage
On a national level, the survey revealed that 50% of Brits say they would play a fruit machine, with 23% finding the experience enjoyable. Additionally, 60% of respondents noted that fruit machines are a common feature in their local pubs.
East Midlands has among the highest recorded number of fruit machines according to British pub goers

The survey found that pubs in the East Midlands lead the nation in featuring fruit machines, with 70% of residents reporting that a slot machine can be found in their local. Close behind are the Northeast and Northwest regions, where 65% of pubs are reported to feature fruit machines.
When it comes to playing fruit machines, East Midlands pub-goers are among the most enthusiastic, with 61% saying they would actively play these games. The Northeast and Northwest also show a strong interest.
Interestingly, while Londoners are less likely to encounter fruit machines in their local pubs, they are the most likely to enjoy the experience. The survey found that 33% of Londoners view playing fruit machines as an enjoyable part of pub culture, even if it’s not their primary reason for visiting the pub.

People who were surveyed, when asked what they enjoy about playing fruit machines, said: “Although I’m not a constant user, I enjoy the thrill of the game and the chance to win some extra cash. The atmosphere of the pub adds to the excitement, making it a fun social experience.”
When discussing the decline in people using fruit machines, one person said: ‘I used to play them a lot more when they were cheaper. Now the money goes too fast. But I still like having a chance to win.”
Some believe they’re too complicated now, saying: ‘Not much now, far too heavily computerised, way, way too complicated. Occasionally we come across a real old banger and have some fun; it’s an age thing!”
