BEST DAY FOR A BBQ? WEATHER DATA REVEALS 1ST OF JUNE COULD BE THE FIRST DAY TO GET THE GRILL OUT

New data has predicted the first day Brits can expect to wheel out the BBQ this year, along with the best and worst days in summer.
Crafty Brewing have analysed 10 years’ worth of temperature and rainfall data across the UK and found that the 1st of June could be the first BBQ date of the season, and luckily for Brits, not only does it land on a Saturday this year, but it’s just 4 weeks away.
The 1st of June, now dubbed ‘Sizzle Saturday’, has only seen rain twice in the past ten years, and with an average temperature of 17 degrees Celsius, and a peak of 22 degrees in both 2018 and 2021, it might just be warm enough for Brits to fire up the grill.

Last summer, Crafty Brewing, known for their personalised craft beers, experienced a 30% surge in sales leading up to June, as people eagerly prepared for warmer weather, where BBQs and beers go hand in hand.
Luke Herman, Founder of the Surrey-based brewery, said: “Much like the rest of the UK, we’re looking forward to brighter, sunnier days, where guests can come and enjoy the taproom. We always see an increased interest for personalised beers in June, as people stock up their home bars and corporate summer parties introduce their own branded beers.”
While the 1st of June may be the earliest, data actually reveals that the 18th of July has historically been the best day overall to get in the garden and host a BBQ.
With just two out of the last ten years experiencing rain on that date, and with temperatures reaching as high as 33 degrees Celsius in 2022, it’s no wonder why.
The date aligns with a huge amount of Google searches for BBQ inspiration as almost a million* Brits took to Google to search for BBQ recipes last July.
The 18th might be the best overall, but it’s the 19th of July which records the highest temperatures with an average of 22.1 degrees and a high of 37 degrees in 2022, but the date narrowly misses the top spot as it’s rained 5 times in the last 10 years.
Current weather forecasts show the UK is bracing itself for yet another bout of bad weather as this week has seen strong winds and rain, but this new data should hopefully put some warm weather firmly on the horizon.
