romantic places in paris

Whether you’ve already experienced the romantic French capital or it’s your first visit this Valentine’s Day, there’s plenty to explore. From theme parks, shopping, and fine dining, to simply soaking up the unique atmosphere.

Whether you’re going solo or on a romantic break, the travel experts at AttractionTickets.com have analysed the hashtag #SecretSpotsInParis to uncover the absolute top six things to do in Paris this Valentines Day:

  1. Wander around Paris’ lesser-known green spaces
  2. Visit the Wall of Love mosaic
  3. Dine at Passage Brady
  4. Go to the Canal Saint Martin
  5. Have a fairytale Valentines at Disneyland Paris
  6. Visit the historic Librairie Galignani bookstore
  1. Wander around Paris’ lesser-known green spaces

If you’ve visited Paris before, you’ll be no stranger to the many green spaces pocketed in and around the city.

For a cost-friendly way to enjoy the beautiful parks, pack a make-shift picnic. Visit one of Paris’ boulangeries and for a little extra indulgence, pack a bottle of french red wine or champagne too.

The data revealed that the following three parks are definitely worth putting at the top of your itinerary:

  1. Jardin du Palais Royal

Located just behind the Louvre Palace, this is one of Paris’ smaller and quieter parks. The peaceful atmosphere makes it perfect for taking a breather away from the hustle and bustle of Paris.

Beyond its fountains, curated flowerbeds and manicured lawns, the parisian architecture that frames the garden takes front and centre – fronted by the Palais Royale and surrounded by a trio of shopping arcades.

  1. Parc des Buttes Chaumont

Visitors and locals alike frequent this picturesque park – located a little further out from Paris’ tourist hotspots, you can indulge in a more laid-back and leisurely pace whilst you take in the scenery. The park is complete with ancient trees, a waterfall and a cliff-top roman monument.

  1. Promenade Plantée

10 metres above street level, the Promenade Plantée was the world’s first elevated park. Beginning at the Bastille, winds through the 12th arrondissement for 3 miles, this offers a different perspective on Paris, from above.

2. Visit The Wall of Love

While the Love Lock Bridge (or ‘Pont des Artes’) might spring to mind as the go-to spot when you think ‘Valentines in Paris’, the lesser known Wall of Love came out as the top place to visit, according to TikTok.

Also known as “le mur des je t’aime”, the mosaic wall is located in the Jehan Rictus garden square in Montmartre, and is inscribed with “I love you” in over 250 languages.

Located in Square Jehan Rictus in the Parisian village of Montmartre, which is one of Paris’ most famous districts, you can make a day of exploring the quaint cobbled streets to experience a slightly different side of Paris.

3. Passage Brady

Whilst there are plenty of restaurants across the city where you can enjoy the French cuisine and wines that Paris is known for, Passage Brady – often referred to as ‘Little India’ – has a range of restaurants serving traditional dishes from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mauritius and Reunion.

  1. Take a boat trip on the Canal Saint-Martin

Taking a cruise or hiring a boat on the rivers and canals of Paris is one of the cities’ most popular activities for Valentine’s day.

Canal Saint-Martin’, the lesser known extension of the popular Seine River, boasts equally stunning views through the tree-lined neighbourhood of Saint Martin.

Whether you hire a boat, book a candle-lit dinner cruise or watch the barges and boats cruising down the water, this part of Paris is much quieter with tourists making for a more low-key, local atmosphere – great if you’ve been to Paris before and want to enjoy something new.

  1. Explore Disneyland Paris

Nothing says romance like the classic Disney love stories and fairytales at Disneyland Paris. Take a short train ride (34 minutes) from the centre of Paris to Marne-la-Vallée – Chessy.

Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and get some extra butterflies from the excitement of the rides.

  1. Visit Librairie Galignani

Quaint Librarie Galignani is worthy of landmark-status and absolutely one to put on your itinerary.

With a long history as the oldest English-language bookstore in mainland Europe, this store has stood the test of time. Located just a 13 minute walk from Jardin du Palais Royal, and in the very heart of the city centre, it’s certainly worth a visit.
