Skincare for Blokes: What You Need, Nothing You Don’t

Share

Let’s be honest — most guys don’t want a drawer full of skincare products or a morning routine that feels like a science experiment. But looking after your skin does matter — not just so you look good, but to avoid dryness, irritation, and premature ageing.

Here’s a no-nonsense, low-effort skincare routine that works. Just three products. No fluff. No 10-step routines. And no one will accuse you of raiding your girlfriend’s shelf.

1. Wash Your Face (With Something That Isn’t Shower Gel)

That bar of soap you use on your pits? Don’t put it on your face. It strips your skin and leaves it dry. All you need is a decent face wash that gets rid of the dirt, sweat and oil without wrecking your skin.

Do this: Once in the morning, once before bed
Takes: 10 seconds
Pick up: Anything that says “gentle” or “for men’s skin”

2. Slap On a Moisturiser

Dry, tight, itchy skin? Sorted. A moisturiser hydrates your skin and makes you look like you’ve slept eight hours, even if you haven’t. It also helps with shaving rash and flaky patches. Go for one with SPF built in and you’re killing two birds with one stone.

Do this: After you wash your face
Takes: 15 seconds
Pick up: One with “SPF 15 or 30” on the label

3. Use Sunscreen (Yes, Really)

This is the big one. Sun damage = wrinkles, leathery skin, and a much higher risk of skin cancer. You don’t need to be sunbathing for it to matter — just walking the dog or sitting in the beer garden is enough. Protect your face. Every day.

Do this: Every morning (or get a moisturiser that includes it)
Takes: 10 seconds
Pick up: Matte or non-greasy sunscreen so you don’t look shiny

That’s It. You’re Done.

Face wash. Moisturiser (ideally with SPF). A proper sunscreen if you’re outside a lot. Three things. Under a minute. No fluff.

Your skin will look better. You’ll feel better. And you won’t need a chemistry degree to do it.
