Three Budget-Friendly Holiday Destinations for Couples

Share

If you’d like to bond with your significant other, then choosing the right surroundings can be pivotal.

The right romantic holiday destination can provide the all-important sense of novelty and adventure that can set sparks flying. And, best yet, you don’t need to spend a huge amount to make this happen.

Let’s take a look at three fantastic destinations, which prove that cheap holidays can be just as romantic as pricey ones!

Albania’s Ksamil
Ksamil is a small village on the coast of Albania, just a short ferry ride from neighbouring Corfu. It’s much less expensive than more traditional destinations in the region, like Italy and Croatia, but you’ll need to be aware that the loungers on the beaches are often booked early. You can expect to spend around two thousand Albanian leks (that’s around £18) on a sunlounger for a day.

Budget-Friendly Holiday Destinations

While you’re in the region, you might pay a visit to other local attractions. Lake Butrint is fantastic for watersports, and there’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site nearby in the form of Butrint National Park.

Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon’s tourist appeal is extremely mature. The Portuguese capital provides all of the amenities you could wish for, including amazing public transport, accommodation, and food. For couples, several aspects of the city deserve special consideration. The Alfama district is a must-visit, thanks to the traditional cobblestone streets and brightly-hued houses, which lead up to the São Jorge castle.

Many of the city’s most impressive buildings, including the Se Cathedral and the Panteão Nacional, are to be found here.

Couples might also make a point of riding on Tram 28, which provides a nostalgic, vintage view of some of the city’s most historic districts. If you want to take in the sunset, however, the best vantage point is undoubtedly Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, a tranquil hilltop that provides a panoramic view of the city.

Budget-Friendly Holiday Destinations

Rhodes, Greece
The Greek island of Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese group. It’s best known for its historic sections, like the Old Town, and the proliferation of ruins dotted around the coastline. For couples in search of relaxation, there are also great beaches to consider, especially around Lindos and Tsambika. In the former case, there’s also an ancient Acropolis to consider.

The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll find a maze of cobble-strewn streets, as well as many smaller shops, tavernas, and museums. At the heart of the area is the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, a sprawling medieval castle that once functioned as a citadel of the Knights Hospitaller, a local catholic military order. First established in the 7 th century by the Byzantine Empire, the castle provides an inspiring vantage point for couples!
